Surprise! I'm 5 Months Pregnant! Is it A Girl or A Boy?!

My munchkins Caleb and Jacob are growing up so fast! I've loved having my boys and watching them grow and cannot wait for the things to come in the future! Caleb is now 3 (will be 4 in January) and loves Disney Cars, Batman, having conversations, counting, doing pull ups, and learning new things. Jacob turned 2 just yesterday and he loves cars, bouncy balls, new foods, watching Rugrats, and making forts.

Those of you to know me personally know I've always dreamed of having a girl. Everyone keeps telling me "Third times the charm"... the saying I despised hearing as I know plenty of people who have 3 or more children who are all the same sex. So I ignored them and just settled with the fact that YOU NEVER KNOW.

Well I am now 5 months pregnant with my third child... which (btw) I have not told too many people. So this is my official announcement... YAY! lol

My little brother, who I've been teaching photography, and I planned my maternity shoot to include photos with this announcement. We hope you enjoy viewing the shoot. I found out the sex of the baby last week so scroll through the images to find out if its a girl or a boy HEHE :)

These images were taken in our new place/studio. I decided to use it while it was empty... to me our new place and this pregnancy symbolizes new beginnings.

Model Spotlight | Maria Vaughn

This was our first time working with Maria. She is one of the friends of the Ice Princess of our Fire & Ice Session featured in our Vintage Winter Photography Series. Her personality at the meetings and during the shoot brought laughter and excitement! We are very thankful to have met her and worked with her on this project!

Model Maria Vaughn Interview

Q: Why did you begin modeling?

A: I always wanted to try something new so my big sister, Glynnis, went to the mall and she signed me up for Willamina. When they said they wanted me I started taking it a little more serious. I was 13 at the time and living in San Diego, CA.

Q: What is your modeling inspiration?

A: I really think everything is my inspiration... from models to clothes to a piece of art. I love the inspiration from nature mostly because we can blend in so well. 

Q: What is your favorite type of modeling? 

A: The type of modeling I love to do is story line where the photos tell a story. I also like artistic art from nude to alter egos and on to everyday life. Its more fun and a challenge for the team. And when I say team I mean MUA, photographer, hair stylist, and wardrobe stylist. 

Q: What are your modeling goals?

A: I want to make this more of an experience than a goal. Like Tyra Banks said "Modeling is just a stepping stone. To succeed is what you really want." and I stay true to that. I dont want it to be just my life because I love dancing and working with kids. It will come to a point where I want to gain weight and spend my life with a guy that I want and start a family. I want to be that one model that's amazing at what I do but leaving people wanting more.

Q: What are your hobbies and interests? 

A: I work with kids and my hobbies are doing hair, writing songs, and poetry . It's been a while but I still love doing it and my interest are learning everything so when I'm on a budget I can make it myself.  

Q: Is modeling your profession or a hobby?

A: Modeling is more of a hobby than a profession for me. It's fun and gives a lot of artistic mind too.  

Q: Tell us a little about your family.

A: I'm half black and Panamanian. My father is Cherokee and my great grand father is a white Jamaican lol so me and my family are very loud, crazy and caring. My dad is the goofy one and my mom is too. Love family gatherings and I love my family period. We all have our flaws but we still share our love for each other. 

Q: What was your first time modeling and how did it go?

A: My first time modeling was really when I came to Houston. There was a lot that I had to learn because I was just a dancer and had the dancer stance and posture. So they had to break me out of it and it got more comfortable.

Q: How was your experience with the Vintage Winter Photography Series 2012 by Victoria Peach Designs? What was your favorite part of working on the series?
A: I enjoyed every moment working on this project. She has amazing mind for story lines and she knew what she wanted. My favorite part was seeing how everyone helped and enjoying each others company.  

Q: How was it working with the photographer, Victoria Peach, and would you work with her again?
A: I will most definitely work with her again because she's really nice and straight to the point. I really like that about her.

Models are not just models. We invest in our lives and were not perfect but it's just a photo that's doing it's job. 

Isiah + Karina | Senior Prom

I received the pleasure of photographing my brother and his beautiful girlfriend for their senior prom this year. I am so in love with how gorgeous Karina's dress is! The flowing ruffles went so well with this windy day and tight curls were a bonus! They were so comfortable in front of the camera, all I had to do was use my skill. Normally I would have to come up with posing, but with them everything came so naturally.

Model Spotlight | Kay Nate

Kay is one of our favorite models to work with!!! We were there when she was first introduced to the modeling world and we have and will continue to support her in her future endeavors!!!

She is the Ice Princess of our Fire & Ice Session featured in our Vintage Winter Photography Series. Her work with the Fire Prince, Alex, was spectacular and we're so grateful she chose to work with us on this project.

Model Kay Nate Interview

Q: Why did you begin modeling?
A: I enjoy taking pictures and Victoria is a close friend. She would have a vision and ask me to be her model or I would volunteer!

Q: What are your modeling goals?
A: In the future, I would love to walk the runway more. I love being photographed and would like to do something with advertising as well.

Q: What are your hobbies and interests?
A: Shopping is a joy of course! I really like watching movies and spending time with my family.

Q: Is modeling your profession or a hobby?
A: Modeling is definitely a hobby. It's a time to learn something new and do something different.

Q: Tell us a little about your family.
A: I have a beautiful 5 year old daughter.

Q: What was your first time modeling and how did it go? Did you enjoy it? How have you grown since then?
A: My first official photo shoot was with Victoria Peach Designs and it was a shoot with my younger sister. She allowed us to freestyle and then critiqued us. I have learned more about posing, and I have had the opportunity to walk in a few fashion shows.

Q: How was your experience with the Vintage Winter Photography Series 2012 by Victoria Peach Designs? What was your favorite part of working on the series?
A: Working on the Vintage Winter Photography Series was lots of fun. My group was very involved and offered ideas for the story. The best part was the day of the photo shoot!!

Q: How was it working with the photographer, Victoria Peach, and would you work with her again?
A: Victoria is a great person to be around and she allows you to give input on the project.

Jacob's Cake Smash

What kid doesn't appreciate a good old fashioned cake smashing! It's a part of their DNA! The culprit: Jacob. The victim: A saved caked from Jacob's circus party, and it was awesome! We were excited to give the birthday boy a personal cake smash photo session.

Not sure when the ritual of birthday cake smashing began, but it's a trend that is too cute (and photogenic) to ever go away. Usually there are two cakes, one large cake for adults and children who are old enough for the dessert, and one smaller stand-alone cake, for smashing purposes. It's the time to give your child permission to not only play with his food, but make an all-out mess of it.

Designed and baked by my sister Jasmine, Jacob's cake was the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of circus fun. Jasmine took our ideas for the party theme and colors and let her creativity flow. It runs in the family!

However, Jacob didn't go crazy with the cake as one would expect. Perhaps he was more concerned with actually EATING the cake instead of smashing it. He eventually took pieces from it and ate it, very carefully. What a gentleman!

The look on his face said "I'm gonna finish the whole cake!" That cake was going to get it. Jacob was no longer being Mr. Nice-guy. (That's a sign of a yummy treat. Thanks again sis!)
